Do you know when you should take your lash extensions off?
If a lash artist says that you need to take breaks on your lash extensions, RUN. Run as fast as you can. Let’s get this completely clear: you never need to take a break while wearing your lash extensions when they are done properly.
A well done set of lash extensions is defined by being isolated properly- where all natural lashes can grow and shed with nothing preventing or prematurely making them fall out. Aside from proper isolation, an appropriate amount of adhesive also goes hand in hand with not only isolation, but also how much added weight is added onto the natural lash. The right weight and length of lash extensions used is also necessary to keep natural lashes completely healthy and unaffected. The final characteristic to a quality set of lashes is reputable adhesive being used. An ingredient in adhesive called methylacrylate can be toxic and mess with the dermal papilla in a follicle (where the hairs grow from). My favorite adhesive that doesn’t contain methyl and is double purified is Omnia and Kaio by Revolashion.
Your natural lashes growth cycle, or how long it takes your natural lashes to fully shed then grow back, is 21 to 90 days. This means that in as little as 3 weeks, and up to 3 months, you WILL have new natural lashes.
The logic behind taking breaks on lash extensions isn’t fully there. If you wanted to take breaks, you would want to time it between each growth cycle. Since we are constantly growing and shedding natural lashes, it’s next to impossible to time that out.
As long as you or your client isn’t pulling at or picking their lashes, and are keeping up with cleaning the lashes, you truly do not EVER have to take your lash extensions off or take a break on wearing them! The more you know
